Chloe Moretz and Michelle Pfeiffer are no doubt hoping that their latest project together will be somewhat more entertaining than the abject “Dark Shadows” which they collaborated on earlier this year. And so they’ve joined the cast of “Man Under,” a production which has also added an Academy Award winning actor and Academy Award nominated director in one fell swoop, as Tim Robbinswill helm the dysfunctional family comedy while also starring alongside Pfeiffer and Moretz.

Ann Cherkis (who previously penned “The Secret” which starred David Duchovny and Olivia Thirlby) has written the script, which follows a family whose lives are transformed after they are exhibited in a series of photographs at the Museum of Modern Art. The film will be Robbins’ first theatrically released feature since 1999’s “Cradle Will Rock,” with his work behind the camera since being restricted to videos, TV movies, and most recently episodes of television’s “Treme.”

It sounds like a potentially fun little family movie, and based on the strength of the cast alone it looks like a project to keep an eye on. As previously mentioned Robbins is a past Oscar-winner, Pfeiffer’s a previous nominee, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if Moretz went on to win a little golden man of her own at some point in the future. “Man Under” joins an increasingly long list of films that Moretz has lined up, with “Kick Ass 2” and “Carrie” probably the most high-profile – and it doesn’t look like she’ll be disappearing from our screens any time soon regardless of the success of that remake. Relativity Media has set a release date for Luc Besson‘s latest directorial effort, the action-comedy ”Malavita,” starring Robert DeNiro, Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The film will open October 18, 2013. The placement puts it in competition with “The Seventh Son,” which stars Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore, and “No Good Deed,” with Idris Elba.

Relativity has also set dates for several other films.

“Safe Haven,” the latest Nicholas Sparks adaptation which stars Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough, has been moved up slightly in order to catch the Valentine’s Day crowd a little earlier. It’s been moved from February 14 to February 8, 2013.

Meanwhile, the comedy “21 and Over” has been pushed up two weeks, moving from March 15 to March 1, 2013.

Finally, the gritty drama “Out of the Furnace” is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2013. Directed by Scott Cooper (“Crazy Heart”), it boasts a strong ensemble cast including Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker and Willem Dafoe.

Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones for are teaming up for EuropaCorp and Relativity’s action-comedy “Malavita,” directed by Luc Besson (“The Professional,” “The Lady”).

“Malavita” tells the story of the Manzonis, an infamous mafia family who the witness protection program sends to a small country town in Normandy, France. There, they try to fit in, but find themselves resorting to their familiar lifestyle.

“Glee’s” Dianna Agron and John D’Leo (“Wanderlust”) are also starring.

Principal photography begins today in Normandy and will soon move to La Cité du Cinéma, where the brand new Studios de Paris are located. Additional shooting will take place in New York.

Besson adapted the script from Tonino Benacquista’s book “Badfellas.” He also served as producer on the “Taken’ and “Transporter” films.

De Niro and Pfeiffer previously starred together in Matthew Vaughn’s “Stardust.” While De Niro is certainly no stranger to mob-related films (everything from “Goodfellas” to “Analyze This”), Peiffer was last seen in gangster glam in Jonathan Demme’s 1988 hit “Married to the Mob.”

Pfeiffer was recently seen in “People Like Us” and Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows.”
